Almost all the other nations in the Known World have been influenced by the Empire of Thyatis in one way or another – either by being a former colony or by warfare. Military prowess is greatly honored here, but other professions are not shunned. Think of Thyatis as the Roman Empire at its height of power, complete with a large army, gladiatorial arenas, corrupt senators, etc. Any type of adventure can be found within the borders of the Empire – one only has to know where to go, what to do, or who to bribe.
In Thyatis En Garde! a player finds himself born into and educated in a world where social climbing is a way of life, and status is a goal to be pursued even over money. There are people to be used, friends in high places to be cultivated, enemies to be humiliated, lackeys to be abused, and the ear of the Emperor to be gained.
An online game for 1-100 players. Everyone welcome!
Thyatis En Garde! is a variation of the En Garde! fourth edition game published in the UK by Margam Evans Limited under licence from Paul Evans. More information may be found at: www.engarde.co.uk. A lot of these rules are basically En Garde! rules, but with changes made by myself as well as incorporated from numerous other En Garde! games played online over the years. Unfortunately, I have a faulty memory and am unable to give credit for various “house rules” where it is due as many years have passed since I first came across them, although I imagine that Sun King, Briney En Garde!, and a Call of Cthulu based one that I can’t remember the name of were major influences.
This game is based in the fictional Empire of Thyatis as published by TSR in their Dawn of the Emperors boxed set. A reading list will be provided in the wiki appendix for those who wish to do some related research.
